Work Conditioning Program

MidAmerica’s work conditioning program was developed recognizing that it is important to return injured workers to the workplace environment to maximize coping skills, functional capacity and a return to a normal level of activity.

The overall goal of any injured worker rehabilitation program is to shorten the time frame from onset of injury to a return to the work force. The most efficient outcome is achieved when there is immediate intervention following an injury. Not only is this good patient care, but studies have demonstrated that prompt return to the workforce is the best way to control the total cost of any workers compensation claim.

Injured workers benefit from our hand therapy services from the onset of injury through their return to work. Early occupational therapy intervention is imperative to improve active range of motion, reduce pain and swelling, and reinforce a healthy attitude to a prompt return to work.

The majority of injured workers who receive prompt intervention from highly qualified specialists in hand and upper extremity care can return to their employment without the need for additional rehabilitation services. However in some cases the injured worker has been determined to have obtained maximum benefit from their therapy from but still have physical and functional deficits that interfere with their ability to perform normal work activities. For those who need further intervention the MidAmerica work conditioning program will meet their needs.
